The 5th annual Salty Sweet Pro/Am returns to Cocoa Beach! The Salty Sweet competitionis one of the largest women’s surf events in the country with pro and amateur divisions. Many of the competitors began surfing at young ages here on Florida’s Space Coast. Early on, the event earned Eastern Surf Magazine’s “Best New Contest” award. This year, the competition is sponsored by Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism through it’s Sports Marketing Program.
The Cocoa Beach Pier hosts the competition each year. Admission is free, with $20 parking available at the Pier. This year, the contest starts at 9am on Saturday, October 13 and concludes with finals and awards ceremony on Sunday, October 14. The weekend weather forecast is breezy with partly cloudy skies.

The NFK Surf Festival is returning to Cocoa Beach this Labor Day Weekend! The National Kidney Foundation Surf Festival is an annual event hosted by Phil Salick, to honor his brother Rich Salick and raise awareness for kidney disease, with an emphasis on prevention & support for organ donation. It is the largest surfing charity foundation in the world that features professional and amateur surfing competitions, stand up paddleboarding and tandem competitions, skateboarding, karate, entertainment, family fun, and volunteering. All of the proceeds from this event go towards support programs in patient services, research, public and professional education and organ donation. The event has raised over $4 million dollars for charity and scholarships since it began, and bring thousands of tourists to Florida’s Space Coast each year.
This year, the festival will be held at Westgate Resort’s Cocoa Beach Pier with surfing heats on Saturday, September 1st through Monday, September 3rd. Live music, food vendors, a movie on the beach, an auction, and more are available for spectators, in addition to some incredible surfing. Santa Claus is surfing to town! Every year, hundreds of participants flock to downtown Cocoa Beach in festive costumes for a day of surfing and fun. Cocoa Beach’s annual charity event, Surfing Santas, kicks off at 8:00a.m. this Saturday (Christmas Eve) at the east end of Minutemen Causeway. The event is sponsored by The Florida Museum of Surf, with enormous community support from local businesses like Coconuts, as well as Ron Jons, and proceeds are donated to Grind for Life, a charity that provides resources for individuals battling cancer. The event has grown enormously in popularity since it started in 2009, and was recently featured as the #1 trip for people who love Christmas by travel blogger Lynn O’Rourke Hayes.

This Friday, Surfing Santa returns to Cocoa Beach with an early arrival on Black Friday. The annual event brings hundreds of surfers and spectators to the Space Coast each year in support of the Florida Surf Museum and local charity Grind For Life. Over the years, Surfing Santas has raised over $20,000 for the charity, which helps individuals and families fighting cancer. The Florida Surf Museum preserves the history of Florida’s unique surfing culture with exhibits containing documents, images, and surf boards.
The event will begin at 1:00p.m. on November 25 at Alan Shepard Park in Cocoa Beach. Spectators will see Santa-a mystery professional surfer-surf ashore and will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa and get a complimentary 4×6 print. Unlike the wildly popular Christmas Eve event, surfers and spectators are asked to enjoy the event from the beach. Visitors can expect warm, breezy, partly cloudy conditions according to the local forecasts.

This weekend, Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach will host the 52 Annual Easter Surf Festival, which benefits the Central Brevard Humane Society. The event starts today, and will continue through the weekend. Apart from the many competitive heats for surfers young and old, spectators will have a chance to improve their skateboarding and surfing skills with clinics, participate in celebrity signings, an easter egg hunt, live music, and more. Parking at Lori Wilson Park will be $10 for the weekend, and all proceeds will go to the Central Brevard Humane Society.
