Brevard County is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna that attract nature enthusiasts, bird watchers, and fishermen from all over the world. Brevard’s Rivers are also home to tiny, glowing creatures that light up the water during the summer months. These critters, called dinoflagellates, are a type of bioluminescent plankton that emit a blue-white light when the waters are disturbed. Visitors to the area can find kayak tours from Titusville down south to Sebastian and everywhere in between to view the phenomenon between May and October. Calm nights without moonlight make for ideal conditions, and don’t forget mosquito repellent!

For the past 20 years, HGTV has held one of the most widely recognized annual home giveaways, and while three previous abodes have been located in Florida, 2016’s pick is a first for Florida’s Space Coast. Located on Merritt Island’s Indian River Lagoon, the remodeled home features lush, subtropical landscaping, sweeping views of the Indian River, and pristine design and furnishings. The sweepstakes will run through February 18, and the winner will be announced in mid-April. In addition to the home, the winner will also receive a 2016 GMC Acadia Denali, a new boat, and a $250,000 check from Quicken Loans.
