The Producers debuts at the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse on April 26th. The show, based on Mel Brooks’ cult classic film, will run from April 26th through May 12th. “The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all “little old ladies”) out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit!”
The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse originally opened its doors to the public in 1924. In its early days, the playhouse served as a movie theater, showing silent films and “talkies” later. Eventually, the Playhouse was entered into the register of historic places and became a not-for-profit. Thanks to the generosity of the community and dedication of many volunteers, the Playhouse has grown and is now one of Brevard’s top performing arts centers.
