Ron Jon’s annual Beach ‘N Boards Fest returns this week with festivities starting this Thursday. The Ron Jon’s/Vans Surf competition starts the event off bright and early Thursday morning until 4:00pm. The festivities continue through the weekend with the ongoing surf competition, demos, henna, signings, and more. Sunday, March 12th, is the final day of the event, with most activities wrapping up mid-afternoon. The surf report for the weekend indicates big swells with 1-2ft waves. Visitors may see afternoon showers as the weekend progresses, but warm and breezy temperatures overall.

This year, the Space Coast Office of Tourism has joined forces with the US Travel Association for their Project Time-Off promotion. Project Time-Off is a campaign aimed at encouraging American workers to take full advantage of their paid time off and go on a vacation. Starting on National Plan for Vacation Day, the Space Coast Office of Tourism will be running a promotion to help travelers plan their trip to Cocoa Beach and surrounding areas, as well as hosting a sweepstakes. Participants have a chance to win one of five vacations on the Space Coast valued at $2500 per package.

Santa Claus is surfing to town! Every year, hundreds of participants flock to downtown Cocoa Beach in festive costumes for a day of surfing and fun. Cocoa Beach’s annual charity event, Surfing Santas, kicks off at 8:00a.m. this Saturday (Christmas Eve) at the east end of Minutemen Causeway. The event is sponsored by The Florida Museum of Surf, with enormous community support from local businesses like Coconuts, as well as Ron Jons, and proceeds are donated to Grind for Life, a charity that provides resources for individuals battling cancer. The event has grown enormously in popularity since it started in 2009, and was recently featured as the #1 trip for people who love Christmas by travel blogger Lynn O’Rourke Hayes.

This Friday, Surfing Santa returns to Cocoa Beach with an early arrival on Black Friday. The annual event brings hundreds of surfers and spectators to the Space Coast each year in support of the Florida Surf Museum and local charity Grind For Life. Over the years, Surfing Santas has raised over $20,000 for the charity, which helps individuals and families fighting cancer. The Florida Surf Museum preserves the history of Florida’s unique surfing culture with exhibits containing documents, images, and surf boards.
The event will begin at 1:00p.m. on November 25 at Alan Shepard Park in Cocoa Beach. Spectators will see Santa-a mystery professional surfer-surf ashore and will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa and get a complimentary 4×6 print. Unlike the wildly popular Christmas Eve event, surfers and spectators are asked to enjoy the event from the beach. Visitors can expect warm, breezy, partly cloudy conditions according to the local forecasts.

This weekend, Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach will host the 52 Annual Easter Surf Festival, which benefits the Central Brevard Humane Society. The event starts today, and will continue through the weekend. Apart from the many competitive heats for surfers young and old, spectators will have a chance to improve their skateboarding and surfing skills with clinics, participate in celebrity signings, an easter egg hunt, live music, and more. Parking at Lori Wilson Park will be $10 for the weekend, and all proceeds will go to the Central Brevard Humane Society. Starting Thursday, March 11, Ron Jon Surf Shop will be holding the 4th annual Beach ‘N’ Boards Festival at Shepard Park in Cocoa Beach. The event will continue through Sunday, featuring competitions for multiple board sports including surfing, skateboarding, paddle boarding, volley ball, and more. In addition to sporting events throughout the weekend, there will also be live music, demonstrations, signings, a film showing, and more. The weekend weather is set to be mostly sunny and breezy, with a slight chance of storms later as the weekend progresses; the surf forecasts indicate choppy waters early on, but improving as the weekend continues. The event is sponsored by local and national brands including Vans, Reef, Florida Today, and many more; Volcom will be organizing daily beach cleanups as well as a sea oat planting on Sunday to promote sustainability and raise awareness about caring for local ecosystems.

Come watch the locals surf this weekend in Satellite Beach at the Local’s Only SurFest! Sponsored by Long Doggers, Villon Clothing, and the City of Satellite Beach, this year’s event will feature categories for all ages to show off their skills. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. on both days, continuing until dusk on Saturday and till 3:00 p.m. Sunday. In addition to the surfing, there will be live music, vendors, and demonstrations over the weekend at Pelican Beach Park.

Long Doggers first opened in 1997 in Indialantic, and now boasts six locations and growing.
