This Friday, Surfing Santa returns to Cocoa Beach with an early arrival on Black Friday. The annual event brings hundreds of surfers and spectators to the Space Coast each year in support of the Florida Surf Museum and local charity Grind For Life. Over the years, Surfing Santas has raised over $20,000 for the charity, which helps individuals and families fighting cancer. The Florida Surf Museum preserves the history of Florida’s unique surfing culture with exhibits containing documents, images, and surf boards.
The event will begin at 1:00p.m. on November 25 at Alan Shepard Park in Cocoa Beach. Spectators will see Santa-a mystery professional surfer-surf ashore and will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa and get a complimentary 4×6 print. Unlike the wildly popular Christmas Eve event, surfers and spectators are asked to enjoy the event from the beach. Visitors can expect warm, breezy, partly cloudy conditions according to the local forecasts.
